Regarding why you're disappointed it's just a new word and not a new usage, I wonder if it could be because discovering a new usage is a reminder that what you hold in your toolbox of words has more depth than you thought? I know I love discovering I can use in new situations a word I already know!
As for being disappointed, I think you might be right. I think it was just that, finding a word I don't know is pretty common, finding a word I can use in a new context is comparatively rare.
Mueller as in Robert Mueller. I guess that's what I get for having followed politics in the States..! I just figured his last name could also be a common noun.
